My Views of Acadia and Bar Harbor

Since so many are showing their Acadia shots I thought I'd add some recent ones of mine. We were there about two weeks ago and it was pretty overcast. I tried to work that to my advantage and we'll see if I succeeded. All critique appreciated.

#2 View from Thunder Hole 2 (Yes I know they are about the same but I liked the wave effects and the different light)

#3 Sunset at Bar Harbor

#4 Fog Over Sand Beach

Thanks for Looking...

Nice work--I especially like #4, with the path in the fog. I'm always drawn to roads and paths and this is an unusual view (i.e., in the fog) so I really like it.

It'll be my turn at Bar Harbor week after next! :D

I like the third shot the most, would also like to see it a bit warmer too.

I love number 4, but have you considered cropping it to an 8x10 ratio? It would remove the empty space to the left of the first fencepost and improve the composition IMO. Just a thought, try it if you like and see what you think.

    Tim,

I tried the 8x10 crop like you suggested and put it in the Bar Harbor gallery at my site. Unfortunately my internet access at work is very restricted so I can't get to my smugmug site to put in a link at this time. When I did the crop to remove the grass to the left I felt it lost a little something. The post gets pushed off the 1/3 point and you lose the feeling of the long leading line. I'll try and post it later when I have better access and see what you think.

    Thanks...

    Tee Why,

I struggled with just how much to hit the vibrance with this picture. I have a little warmer version in the gallery but can't post a link at this time because of restricted internet access at work. I'll put something here later and maybe get an opinion.

    Thanks...

I like them all but I think the third is my favorite also.

Unless its socked in with fog you can get an unbelievable sunrise from sandbeach. Their is a very narrow time window but if you get the timing right it is fantastic. Several mornings I have got up very early for the 50 minute or so drive and it was fogged in but their is always something to get pictures of.
