lightstand boom (impact)

has anyone used this before? I'm thinking about getting it for Alien Bees 1600 that i'm thinking about buying as well. how is it?? will it old?

    That stand is designed for holding a folding Impact reflector and works nicely for that - I own the Impact reflector kit which has that stand or a similar one.

    It will not hold a flash head on the arm. It is not designed for that kind of weight or leverage. The base is also too small and too light for a heavy flash head hanging way off the center pole on the extension arm.

    It will hold a flash head on the vertical light stand pole, just not on the arm.

    ohhh thank you so much! can you recommend me a stand with a boom that will hold the ab1600? i'm on a tight budget cause im only a student.

    Art is pointing you in the right direction - note that theoe are in the Lightstand and Boom category, not reflector stand category.

    Joe McNally uses C-stands for holding speelites ( hot shoe style strobes ) but I doubt they are heavy enough for a real studio AC strobe. Mine weigh at least 5 pounds without a softbox or umbrella.
