...is find a bit of shelter.
This one was underneath the leafy branch of the common Ragwort weed. Strange though, all the cinnebar caterpillars have dissappeared now it is raining!
Raining, so I guess it's time to find somewhere dry...
Should be somewhere to duck under down here...
Ahh, there we go, nicer and snug and out of the wet.
All natural light (and considering where the bee was going, that was tough!) and tripod mounted (which makes it harder) and shot as usual in RAW to try to keep the detail in post processing.

Yeah, he looks more like the proverbial drowned rat!

I'm sure he'll be fine. The rain eased ½ hour later. He probably flew away then!
Cheers Phil.

Hi Paul, when you see them all soaking wet like that,
you wonder how on earth they recover.
Often they look like they will drown in the water that covers their heads.
You did well under the circumstances you were shooting in Paul

The bee was quite lethargic, so that made things manageable, but the tripod was essential for the light levels meant slow shutter speeds.

#1 and 2 is my favourites. As far as i know the little buggers need the sun to navigate, so he was probably all lost, his big GPS in the sky was wet.
It's a pretty species too.
