I have the 120-300 2.8 so I can't comment on the specific lens, but I am very happy with the quality of this lens. Sharp and versatile. I am also looking at getting this lens for a more portable lens compared to the 2.8. I have read the 1.4 extender works pretty good on the 100-300.
