I can't even get my kids to sit still and smile for a photo.
These images are simply amazing!
It does look like you told a funny to him the first shot.
Second shot he looks confused? Joke must of been over his head.

These darter Dragonflies always seem to be smiling but when it threw it's head back in the second shot it looked to me like it was really laughing.
Cuong- sorry to disappoint you I was too busy concentrating on the focus to tell a joke at the same time

Awwwwwwww he likes you you'd swear he was smiling at you.
You'd think the flash firing off the first time, would have been enough to startle him into taking off.
Lovely Shots Brian, love the face .... Skippy

A smiling dragon, who woulda thunk it?

Phil, They do seem amazingly variable in their approachability, suspect it's partly to do with age and perhaps temperature. But I've found that what I think is the same dragonfly can be variable on a day to day basis. But gradually as the season progresses they do all seem to be easier to approach. Always wondered if they were just getting used to me or I was causing an artificial selection for tame bugs in my garden.
