I got my wife to pose for me for a few shot while we were at the lake the other day so I threw up a couple of flashes and did some quick shots. This is the first one that I converted just thought I would share and see if I could get your thoughts.
Thanks Corey.350976564_DCVLx-X3.jpg

Your wife looks very happy to be pregnant and it's cool that she would pose for you at the lake. While I like the shot, I'm not into the mirror image processing effect. Also, I wonder if it would have been better to have her back to the wood with her belly pointing the other direction - so as to not have the two run into each other - if you know what I mean.

More importantly, congrats on the baby to come. My wife and I are expecting our third near the end of September.

The good things I see are that your image is sharp, well exposed and framed. Plus you did this all without reflections on her glasses. The pose or position of the flash at camera right does make for an odd shadow across her face. I also agree with South Shore in that I would lose the mirror effect. You picture is strong enough to stand on its on without it. I also find that effects like this tend to "date" images.

BTW, its always good to see more Iowan's on dgrin. I'm in Ankeny myself.

Thank you very much, I never thought of the effect becoming dated but it makes perfect sense. I think that flash camera right needed to be higher and move towards camera about a foot and that would of helped. I wish I would of caught it at the time I was shooting eek7.gif Oh well.
Ankeny wow you are only a hop, skip, and a jump away I am in Toledo which is just east of Marshalltown. The wife and I are in your neck of the woods if we ever want to do any shopping. :D It is nice to see some Iowans here.
    Thanks for your input,
    Corey

Something to consider...especially when shooting outdoors. Even though the lighting is even...it's flat. The DOF could be more dymamic also. To do your subject justice oftentimes requires a bit of focused light and some blur. This could be done in CS3 but would take some work.

Next time out try to get in tighter, open up the aperture. Lose the fakey looking framing as it becomes a distraction than an aid.
