    great shots, the smokies is my favorite place to go on a week end trip....where did you find the elk,,,,cadets cove?

    Thanks all for the nice words. I was using my 80-200mm, a little closer that you might want to be sometimes to those bear. The head shot was safe, I was shooting from the car...he was right along the road. The bear on the trail, well we walked right up to 15 yards before we saw him and vice versa. At that point if it was going to do anything we would of had trouble. It ran into the woods and I saw a trail it might cross and waited for it.

    Taemerson, Cades Cove doesn't have elk. The Elk can be found over the mountain around the Visitors Center up from Cherokee, or over in Cataloochee Valley in the National Park.
