It's been some time since I've posted any images here so I thought I would "reinitiate" myself and post a smattering of images from the past couple of months. Hope you all enjoy.

Really like the shots from White Sands.
I just booked my travel for a business trip to El Paso so I am going a day early to re-visit White Sands. :ivar

I can see the telltale signs of the graduated ND filter on the Albion Basin shot :-)

Thanks for the kind words. I can sum up how I pursue a memorable image with just a couple quick points.
1. Be there during the magic light. Whatever time it is, however far it may be, do what you need to do to be able to capture that special moment. Without light, our images are lifeless.
2. Include as much as you need to make an image engaging with as little as possible. In other words, isolate what it is that makes the image you're shooting speak to you, and what will hopefully speak to the viewer. Less is definitely more with still photography.
3. Nail your exposure in camera at the time of capture. Your histogram is your best friend when shooting in the field--use it, all the time. I use Grad ND and Reverse ND Grad Filters to bring skies and foregrounds into a dynamic range that the camera is able to handle.
4. Pre-visualize your shot. Think about what it is you'd like to come away with. In my opinion, this is one of the most critical things you can do when preparing to shoot.
5. Don't be afraid to break rules. Learn them, understand them, and then know when it is time to go against the grain.
Now go shoot!
