Morning sunbeams

This is another shot from my trip to the PNW this spring. This was taken in the morning at Rialto Beach in Washington. To answer the inevitable, it is a 3 exposure HDR combined in Photomatix and finished in CS3. Comments and suggestions welcomed. Thanks for looking!

Excellent! After all of these years, I still don't have a "light beams in a forest" shot, and even if I did, it probably wouldn't look as cool as this one. Even though it's HDR it looks authentic to me.

The last time I was in the woods near Rialto beach I saw several large (huge) elk (too dark to photograph) and an immature bald eagle.

    :wow

You know, as you stare into that image, it almost seems to draw you into it, like Alice Through the Looking Glass. Spooky in a way. Unbelievable.

Holy moly I did not expect such a stunning shot opening this thread, because the name you gave it was so innocent and simple!

What a great image. You got it just right and you did a fantastic job capturing a serene forest morning. It is perhaps a touch on the yellow side but at the same time I think it adds a bit of warmth to the scene. I wish was there myself thumb.gif

This is a beautiful shot. The rich greens and the wonderful light in the trees.

I'm wondering if darkening the foreground slightly would help bring more emphasis to the light and texture in the back. My eye seems to be drawn to the bottom of the picture first because it's a little brighter.

Wow. Beautiful image. I typically am not a fan of HDR, as it most often appears garish and overdone. This is subtle and pleasing. You've done a great job of taking a fairly complex scene and making it easy on the eyes. Nicely done.

Thanks again for the comments folks.

I try really hard to create HDR images that show a higher dynamic range than my camera can get in one image, without making it look like it came from a videogame.

    Great Capture!
