Today wasn't the nicest of days. Here in the valley or over in Santa Cruz.
It was nicer in SC but not much.

Waves were about 3' and a high tide. Not ideal conditions for surf.

This little grom rules. He will take a tiny little wave and make something
happen. Probably why he wins contests :):

Even the sailboats where having a hard time.

    Love the sailboat group!
Our surfers were getting nice rides, big surprise actually, ocean was kind of flat.

These are quite cool. You don't get a whole lot of surfing shots here in AK. The surfers are out there, but I haven't ever seen them, and even if I did I don't have the equipment to get those up-close shots. The only thing that throws me off about these is the lack of color. You can tell it's a dull day just by the reflections on the water. Not sure if there's any way to fix that though.

And the repetition of colour...it always looks good like this. thumb.gif

Andy, Gus & Coldclimb, thanks for the comments.

Summer time starts the racing season for these guys. Should be
seeing a few more races under better conditions.

I shot some of the longboarders out there in 93. I spent a few weeks living about the surf shop Santa Cruzin, is it still there? Those guys were very interesting with their very laid back lifestyle and dedication to surfing.

Near Soquel and N Branciforte, there used to be a camera shop in that triangle where the streets meet, then a two story building that had the surf shop, down the block was a Safeway. If I remember correctly. headscratch.gif
