Ohhhhhhhhhh joy, happiness, rapture :clap
I was outside yesterday checking out the flower buds on one of my small Australian native plants, and on closer inspection I noticed it had quite a few caterpillars on it whooohoooooooo !
They are really skinny, they are not much thicker than the storks they are trying to stip, but they have really nice patterns on their bodies .
Taken with Canon 20D, Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro, one Kenko Ext Tube, hand held, natural light
Enjoy......... Skippy (Australia)

Ohhhhhhhh 99% of the bugs around my place get to live
I wonder if these little guys will turn into moths or butterflies?
Well hopefully they wont kill my little plant, I'll be watching them closely to see what they do ......thanks for looking....... Skippy (Australia)

Hopefully they wont be pests....... I really like the patterns on their bodies some are more bolder in color than others, they have two black horns on their backs, but I have never seen these caterpillars before.
Thank you for your comment....... Skippy (Australia)

Nice work Skippy. I'm thinking moth with this guy, but it will be a good lookin moth
So how'd ya like working with an extension tube? Basically, was it worth the hassle?
Thanks for sharing,
Steve
Hi there Steve...... I brought a set of Kenko Auto Tubes, so my lens can still be used with Auto Focus.
I find using one is not too bad, gives you that little extra reach, but the depth of field sucks I tell ya........you'd think by now they would come up with a decent Macro lens with excellent depth of field woundn't ya
The Kenko's were not that expensive to buy from USA, so I don't feel I wasted my money there......... just wish that the Canon 100mm came with an image stablizer, the closer you get to bugs and stuff the more critical movement is, and lets face it 99% of the time a tripod is out of the question.
Least you can get away without using a flash in many many situations because of the high ISO settings.
The Kenko's are very light, and even though they are plastic, they are a real nice fit, and don't look plasticy at all.
Take Care Steve............. Skippy (Australia)

I wanted a big big big big caterpillar, but I had to settle for skinny little ones
Well hopefully if the Monarchs do their job and find my Swan Plants, I will get a decent sized caterpillar from that bush that's the plan
Least my little plants are doing their job, attracting bugs like I hoped they would, I'm really happy because the plants are only 8 months old and growing really well.
Take Care Andy......... Skippy (Australia)

I just wish he was big and fat! I know we get those giant big green ones but I don't know where to find them, they are about 4 inches long and really really FAT.......these guys were a bit too much on the skinny side for my liking.
Thanks for looking Skippy (Australia)

Thank you for the link...........I am waiting to see if the Monarch Butterflies decide to lay eggs on my Swan Plants.......they are attracted to this plant to do their complete life cycle on, I would love to photograph the entire morphing process......fingers crossed I am able to catch it with one of these bugs
