Good Opportunity - Bad Luck

With the Salmon running here in Alaska the Bear on my island are extremely active in preparation for hibernation... Tonight another Officer and I were heading back to the truck when I came upon a decent sized Bear getting his evening meal in, and when another Bear spooked him into the tree line where I was hiking he ended up about 20-30 feet from me. We were all armed for Bear, but after giving is a good look he just went along his way... I could have gotten some incredible shots but between the fading daylight and the fact that the tree cover was making the trail almost black, I had no chance of getting anything worth using. Once we got home I realized that my weather cover, an Aqua Tech Sport Shield, is now useless because the plastic "window" where my top LCD is placed has cracked right down the middle. I don't know how it happened, I wasn't rough with it at all during the hike, so I am thinking that it happened when the other Officer offered to help loosen up the eyepiece that it requires.... I hate that stupid eyepiece and now I have even more reason. *sigh* Sorry guys, just had to vent...
