    Higher price.

    Just kidding, but only a little. The SP version has 4 groups and 5 elements compared to this versions 4/4. The SP is supposed to be the "pro" version and designed specifically for f/2.8 lenses.

    I have never tried the SP version so can't speak to whether they are worth the extra $60.00 or so premium. But that's just me.

    I used this converter on a Sigman 500mm and it worked well.
