Getting the brightness down on my monitor...

Ive been trying for weeks, yes weeks, to get my monitor calibrated right. I have a Dell 2005fpw and eyeone display 2 hardware. When I do the easy calibration, things look good, but the advanced makes everything screwed up...
My newest problem in trying to make advanced work is luminance/brightness. I need to get it down to 120, but with my monitor set to zero im still at 195!
I really dont know what to do. I have nvidia controls for my card I think, but im pretty sure eyeone overrides that...if it doesnt, can I use that to lower brightness?
I really need to edit some photos before I go back to school on Friday...so any help asap is greatly appreciated!
