Hopefully, everyone made it out OK.

Nature's a pretty amazing thing. It'll be a different place. That's for sure.

I was wondering if it was below or above the falls.

They said everyone got out without any injuries which is a good thing. There hasn't been any mention of the falls here on the Las Vegas news, but then again maybe only photographers would care about them...

the damn was built in 1990 to regulate the water flow into all four falls, also to preserve the mineral pools below havasu falls, floods were always doing some sort of damage......

its kinda like fighting fires only to build up the fuel so it can all go up in flames at one time latter on.....

i would imagine that much water going down at one time would destroy the pools easy........

wished i had gone last month before this happened...

Hey, you didn't read this in the September 2008 Outdoor Photographer magazine where they are talking about David Muench's cover shot of the falls, did you?

I just noticed the cover shot looked like Havasu Falls so when I flipped through the mag to confirm it, I discovered this same info about the dam.

What a coincidence that the falls would be on the current cover and they provide background reason for the dam that is no more...

Hopefully in a few years when I actually have a chance to get there, the falls will be back to or better than ever.

I'm now really curious to see what the falls area actually looks like right now...

Some Phoenix news stations are reporting it could take 2-3 years for the water to clear up.

The Govenor had a press conference the day of the flood and said the priorities are rebuilding the dam and trail. Then the campground area which was completely underwater.
