Trying to figure this site out. Just joined this morning

Alright, I'm new here, and every time I try uploading a file I am told the file is too large. Something like 4.5 MB...? Someone please get back to me so I can get some feedback lol.

    If you're trying to attach an image to a post here then the size limit is 145.5 KB for a JPEG so you'd need to resize/compress first. It's better to upload into your SmugMug gallery and then insert it into the post using its URL as per Richard's how-to link. SmugMug gallery limits are here (12 MB for a standard account).

    I also just looked at the smugmug thing and its not free.

    Do you have a site where you host your photos? If so link them from there. If not, and if you are simply trying to upload them to your post, then it needs to be resized down to 145.5, as speedie said. Which are you trying to do?

    You need to resize the image to one that fits the attachment criteria. Then upload it using the attachment manager (you'll see it when you make a post).

    Do take a moment to look through the posts above for the link "how to post". It explains in a lot more detail how to make attachments work.

    Then use one of the free services like Flickr or Photobucket. Same thing applies, once you've uploaded the image, get the link for it and insert it using the insertimage.gif icon in your post.

    EDIT: Flickr allows 10MB files, Photobucket only 1MB (for their free accounts).
