Hi-
I have searched the forums here and done some basic googling but still cannot find much in the way of an answer, so I thought I'd post here. If you can off experience or advice that would be great.
Those of you in nature/landscpae photography-how have you set up your business as a structure? Sole Prop? LLC? Other?
Most articles about setting up a photo business seem geared to the wedding/studio photographer. What about the landscape/nature types? If you do not have a studio or work with people/models and are just posting and selling your images you took on a hike -what are you doing as far as business structure?
So a person that goes around taking landscape images (national parks etc), who maybe sells images here or to a stock agency (but no physical studio or store) i.e. just a web based type business-What/kind of business entity are you using?
Is an LLC worth the time/cost/reporting hassle? Do you just sell here and add any income to your 1040. I know a LLC with one owner can pass that right though and not even have to do a tax return. But you also have state issues and reporting to do.
Related state issues (I know every state is different)- how many have state sales tax certs/filed as a business with their county/etc?
I am not sure if an SBA office really has that type of advice so I though I'd check with folks here to see what they are doing. Thanks for whatever input you can give.

Currently i am operating as an individual and my empolyer has added photography to my list of duties. i would like to some day employ myself as a photographer and maybe have my current job as a contract. ive had my own business before, but i have a feeling photography is a bit diffrent.
