Hi All,
I am new to this forum.

Here are some portraits from the holy city of Varanasi, India.

Comments & suggestions always welcome.

1. Child curious to see the rituals taking place on the banks of River Ganga. My objective was to capture her curious eyes.

2. Child performing a religious ritual

3. Holy Smoke

4. Trainee priests performing PUJA on the Banks of River Ganga.
This place was partly covered by tree shade. Hence the variation in exposure. I particularly liked the partly over exposed faces. It reminds me old BW photograph of my school mates

5. Old Shepherd

Cheers!

Beautiful work, I love the color and saturation in #1 and #2. Also the intensity in the eyes in the same images is really strong and emotive.

This is a place we will never forget for the mixtures of smells, colors shapes, mysticism, etc.
    Nice pictures.
    May be the B&W is a bit hard isn't it ? headscratch.gif
I hope you liked the place.:D

    Agree,
This place is a mix of everything. A crazy place to visit.
    Enjoyed the place a lot.

Might visit again in winter. The river was flowing above normal level. So most of the ghats were submerged in water. Would love to shoot at the ghats.

    Cheers!

Really stunning portraits. The colors and expressions in the first two are just amazing. clap.gif

My first reaction to the group of boys in B&W was their faces were overexposed, ad then I read your comment. :giggle It's a bit bright for my tastes, but your view made me look at it in a different way, which is always good. thumb.gif

Thanks Hippie! I used 80-200 F/2.8 Lens. A bit heavy but top class lens.
