Red-capped Plover

This is the first time I have seen this little bird and I was well chuffed, guv.

The Red-capped Plover has a scientific name of Charadrius ruficapillus and they are resident to Australia. This one was photographed at Stockton Sandspit, Newcastle, Australia.
They were in a small group of about four birds and they came very close to me, sometimes up to one or two meters away from me sitting on a log. They make nests in holes in the beach.
Canon 40D, 50mm f/1.8, 400mm f/5.6L, sigma 105mm Macro.
