    Hi Elizabeth,

Paste the screen shot from the clipboard into any photo editing program, save the file as a JPG, then upload it to Smugmug. Since you have a Smugmug account, it's easier to link the photo than to embed it. Follow these directions and let us know if you run into any problems. How To Post on Dgrin

and if you have a mac, there's a program called 'skitch' (Google it) that lets you do a screenie in about 3 seconds. And ready for embedding, here :D

... and if you're running a PC, there's a program called SnagIt which does the job quickly and easily plus you can draw circles, arrows, and other graphics on your screen shot (which skitch does as well).

    Ok, here i am practicing:

    here is embed

    http://ehuntsman.smugmug.com/photos/356938082_nsGuQ-L.jpg

    here is link: http://ehuntsman.smugmug.com/photos/356938082_nsGuQ-L.jpg

opps - I thought it would ask me what word or descriptor i wanted to put in.

    And here is attach:

well, i don't know whether 'attach' is even there. i guess it shows when i submit post. One question re attach - can i do the screen shot, paste it into a .doc or notepad and then attach it here (it of course wouldn't be a url)?

I will post this now and see how it looks. Thank you all for the help. And thanks for the lead for speeding it up on a PC. Fewer steps would be great.

EDIT: well, that didn't go so great. I missed something with 'embed' It seems to show as a link - not as in image in the post.

the link is just the full url and not the linked descriptor.

    don't know re the attached.

hummm. back to the drawing board.

After you've grabbed your screen shot, save it as a jpg on your computer.

If you want to embed the pic in your post, and you can only embed one in a post, then click on that little paperclip next to the smiley face, browse to the file you saved, then click on the upload button.

When you are ready to insert your screen grab in your post, click on the paperclip again and you'll see your file name. Just click on the file name.

You won't see the actual image at this stage, just a link to it but you'll see it in your post after you submit it or preview it.

It looks like you already know how to link to the image if you upload it to your gallery.

Let us know if you need more help.

the link is just the full url and not the linked descriptor.

The embed picture button is the yellow one with the mountain in it. Or if you're not using the advanced thingy it's the img-tag:[IMG*]url_to_image[/IMG*] (without the asterisks)

When you do a link, write the descriptor first, then hit the link button and paste in the url.
