Went to a car show near an air force base yesterday and caught this behemouth taking off. I was focusing on a car when I heard the roar, swung the camera up and panned to get this. (probably why the focus isn't spot on :rolleyes Last 3 mages cropped at 100%

I see these things coming in and out of NAS in Jacksonville every now and then. They're so huge that, when in the landing pattern, they seem to be flying in slow-motion. It looks like they will fall out of the sky at any moment.

Hi Tom
They do seem to move awfully slowly on take off. I am always amazed that they remain aloft!

You are aparently correct although I did find that statement on what I thought was a reputable site. However I too have now found the following.
"Cargo Compartment: height , 13.5 feet (4.11 meters); width, 19 feet (5.79 meters); length, 143 feet, 9 in (43.8 meters)"
This on the official US Airforce website.

Thanks Lauren. Looking at the size of the cockpit windshields in the first two photos give an idea of the massive size of the fuselage.

Anyway, it's a big piece of kit by anyone's standards
(I'm no a/c nerd - but looked at the 100yds and thought 'that's 4 x the length of our garden - that's big ... and decided to have a shufties ...)
Nice pics, btw
