Can you help ID this bird?

I beleive this is a sparrow. Is that correct? Not sure what specific type of sparrow though.

Ok, so while I was waiting for an answer I did some research and i think it is the White-crowned Sparrow. Maybe a young one?

It's missing the crown and grey cheeks, I'd say brewer's sparrow.

Well personally it looks a lot like a female house sparrow. That would be my first choice. The head pattern and that stripe behind the eye lead me there along with the coloring of the primaries and secondaries on the wings. Nice image with good detail. For composition sake, I would de-center the bird so that it is not right in the middle.

It is a juvenile so an id is very hard but if you shot it close to home then my shot would be a black-throated or sage but to young for a real id so just a ????

Thanks everyone for your input. I was basing my ID on the white markings on the wing and the one behind the eye. It also looks like the baby fluff is starting to come off and that under the chin is white, not black.

I did shoot it close to home. I'll have to head out to the same park again and see if I can get some adult photos and see what the dominant types of sparrows are are.
