OK, added a couple without the dragon (it was just getting too lame and never felt right)

Not sure if either of these approaches to the concept are worth persueing:

I love the second one! Seems very theme worthy and it's an attractive capture. I wonder if the dragon would look nicer softened up a bit?

I'll try softening it a bit then, thanks! I do know I need to recomposite the dragon and contract the selection a few pixels to get rid of the white lines.

I like the composition of #2 better, but the masking (as you mentioned) needs some cleaning up. thumb.gif

    Friggin' awesome fire! clap.gif

#2! clap.gif Yes, the masking does needs to be cleaned up a little bit. I'd also fix the flame so it doesn't extend beyond its upper lip. Position it so it looks the same as #1's does coming out of the mouth.

    What a great idea!!!

I'll go with the group and vote for 2. Angle is great. Fire is awesome - what is that...a blowtorch?!?! I would try to position the source of fire closer to the mouth opening as well.

Thanks Nikolai, I definately agree I need schoolin' on PS! I may try another dragon, that tounge sticking out really makes it hard to give at least a semi-believable illusion that the flames are coming out of it's mouth.

Homemade blow torch ... a candle provides the initial flame, with a can of carberator cleaner or WD40 being sprayed over he flame. Must be VERY careful not to kill myself.

Heh, Was shooting updated fireball shots this afternoon and made the mistake of being downwind from the flames ... I had to clean my undies afterwards as well as the lens.

Makes my little pool of fire swishing across the porch seem tame! rolleyes1.gif
