Anything comparable to Canon G9?

I'm looking for a nice point and shoot to take nice shots of the kids when we at home and when we go places. Any reccommendations of what camera I should get? I like the Canon G9 and I do know that the G10 will be out soon but will it really be that much of a difference between the two models?? Thanks for any advice!:-)
