Only if you're bored!... P&S shots of Nile Cruise
Just a handful of the snaps I took with a P&S on this trip a couple of years back.
Traveled by train Cairo to Aswan. Then boarded a very pleasant, uncrowded river boat for the leisurely sail back down to Luxor, pulling into shore for sight seeing excursions. Not at all expensive for the riches you get. But you have to be savvy about baksheesh!
It was a very exciting experience for me, a dream of my boyhood, and I came to it with quite a bit of knowledge about that fabulous ancient time, which made it all the more rewarding.
Sundeck. Everyone was at lunch!
Fertile river bank
Now, some temples, of course...
Over the ridge on the right is the Valley of the Kings.
On the Nile, towards sunset.
Reprocessed from small jpgs with LightZone.
Hope that was a pleasant minute of viewing!

Looks like you had a good time, would love to visit egypt some time. Though i must admit i much prefered some of the earlier shots you made (with a DSLR?). something about the composition just screams "snaps"
oh well, you warned us so no use pointing fingers
Thanks for looking!
Yeah, so little did I know about photography when I took these (and still can't do much!) that I took & saved them as little jpgs. On and off I try to salvage a few of these P&S snaps for posterity.
But the subjects themselves are timelessly stunning. Snaps they are, but not of inconsequential things!

Like with any trip into foreign parts, doing some homework is the key to success! I recommend the Lonely Planet guide.
As a boy, part of my sustenance was books etc about ancient Egypt, and I have always been drawn by mysteries on the fringes of civilisation, or at their centre.
So if you are this kind of romantic, you'd get a thrill out of a trip like this!
Get your hat and whip and take on anything that comes!

ouch!! haha
thats one way of diminishing your chances of getting good shots
i am envious of your collection of (mental) pictures of the world. I hope to get to see as much of the world in my own life! :oogle
In fact, these are the first shots I took with a digital. And the last time before this I had taken photos was when I was a kid! Or very nearly.

Thanks! Happy you like them, Awais!
Hope all is well with you? We keep hearing of the problems where you are. Of course, they're not the whole story. But still, I always think of you when there is some bad news.
How are your studies going?
Best.

Canon 30D, some lenses and stuff... I think im tired or something, i have a hard time concentrating.. hey look, a birdie!:clap
Yes, it certainly was a big industry, armies of various artisans. But think of the colossal structures now around the world. Yet, we pretty much take such things in our stride. What drives us to these displays!!
Thanks for your kind comments!
