Eye-One Display 2 or LT?

Hi All,

I'm finally ready to calibrate my displays to help increase the likelihood of getting prints that match my expectations. I'll be calibrating notebook and LCD displays, and use Lightroom and occaisionally PSE for my editing. For those using the eye-one devices, do you think I can get by with an LT, or is the Display 2 really a necessity? As I see it, the only difference is easy mode versus advanced, and I have no idea if advanced really matters. :dunno I'd like to save 50 bucks if I can.

On a last thought, I print with both smugmug & mpix. Since I don't use photoshop, I can't do soft proofing. Will I really get a benefit from callibrating my display in that case, and is there much point for me in choosing one white point over another?

Thanks a ton!

I moved this to the "Digital Darkroom Gear" where I think you will find a more appropriate audience.

It depends. But I believe that you will bite yourself later for saving 50$.

What you need to look for is the package that allows you to set
custom white balance and gamma (lite versions usually don't allow this).
Also check if the Lt version supports multiple monitors - if not: bummer.

Of course you could buy a advanced software package that allows all
this some time later when you are sure that you need it (like "color eyes
display pro") but that would costs another $180.

My advice: Buy once, buy right thumb.gif
