Hey Everyone,

I'm new to SmugMug (just recently came from Flickr). I just found these forums today and will start participating in the various contests that are on here. Here's one of my best people shots I've taken since starting to shoot (July '07). I had the opportunity to shoot Obama's campaign rally in Dallas on February 20th and this was the best image I captured from that event.

Enjoy!

Very cool that you got to photograph Obama. I think it could have been a better photo though. I personally am not a big fan of the "up the nose" shot :D I don't know if you intended the grainy look to the photo, but I think if it were sharper it may look better. Just my opinion, I'm not a pro.

I think it's a great shot, leave it grainy. IMO a little more contrasty would be nice but I think it's great as is.

    Very Nice Shot!

    How close where you?
    What lens did you use?
Did you get the shake his hand?

    Chuck,

    I used a 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 G VR lens.

I did happen to shoot a perspective shot when I was there. Not a great shot but shows you how close we were when shooting.

Oh, and yes I got to shake his hand. It felt as if he had shook millions of hands ...

Wow! Someone who knows what pushing/pulling is! I'm impressed, I thought that most of us old farts had been picked off by lions by now... Talk to me about dodging and burning and I think we just might get to be friends!
