I have Photoshop CS3 and I was looking at a tutorial tonight and it said I needed a plug in Camera Raw 4.2 I am on Camera Raw 4.4.1 I have tried everything including Adobe.com without success. I know I can always rely on our Dgrin so I would appreciate if anyone can give me the plug in.
Regards
Bob

I've never had to back a version, but in case you do, you can get all the camera raw updates here.

Usually the only difference between a version such x.2 and x.4 is typically support for newer cameras.

    hope this helps,

Have you tried it with the version you have? Upgrades are almost always backwards compatible, so there's no reason to think it won't work.

    Hey Brad,
Thanks for replying. I looked and I see the latest download is 4.5. I downloaded it and pasted it into Photoshop CS3 in 'My Programmes' but when I opened a CR2 file I see it was still the 4.1.1
    Regards

To be honest Richard. No I haven't I just thought I needed it. Anyhow, I think I am a way behind as I have 4.1.1 and the latest appears to be 4.5
    Thanks Richard

You need to read the installation instructions for 4.5. There is a very specific place in the Adobe file hierarchy that camera raw must go for it to work properly in Photoshop. 'My Programmes' is NOT where it goes.

Thanks John I will have a look at the instructions for 4.5. As I say my Photoshop CS3 Extended is running on 4.4.1. Is this ok or should it be different.

Well I have reinstalled CS3 and now I have 4.3.1 so does anything matter. I had 4.4.1 before, and I had that to start with?

If you have a clean installation of CS3, you should just be able to do Help/Updates and it should update you to anything that came out since your CD, including Camera RAW.

    Hi John,
I have tried opening Help and the Updates link is not illuminated and I have never been able to get any updates this way. I have always had to rely on good members of Dgrin to send me a plugin for the latest version and I have always pasted the plugin into Photoshop CS3 in the Programme files. So I am looking for a good samaritan once again to help me out. The latest plugin is 4.5
    Regards

    Hello Bob:

    Go to...

    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4000

...and download the file. The installation instructions are one the page too (like the ones earlier in this thread). Just take your time and install step-by-step and all will be well.

    Anthony.

If your copy of CS3 is properly activated and you have internet connectivity, the Updates... menu item should be enabled. If it's not working, you might want to contact Adobe tech support or post a question in the right Adobe user to user forums because something is clearly wrong. You shouldn't have to get updates from other users.

Hi John, I have had this damned problem right from the start. I have previously made lengthy enuiries but never had any success as I have been told it is my computer set up. Thanks for all your kind help John, but as you will see Anthony has come to my aid and helped me for which I truly appreciate. That is what I like about Dgrin no one ever sees anyone stuck,
    Regards

Well... what I did was to point you in the right direction. You downloaded the file (and I assume put it in the right folder, etc.)You actually did it yourself - which is great.
