A few shots from my trip down south a few weeks back.

#1 Splendid Fairy Wren - used flash in late afternoon shade. Not the best shot, but these little fellas are so spectacular that I had to include it.

    Absolutely love the Fairy Wren Mike! Thanks for sharing this very colorful bird.
    The eye on the Pelican is sort of scary! The Oystercatchers are a great image!

    fantastic looking birds Mike....I've got a shot of one of those fairy wrens from the zoo, It's cool that you have them in the wild. they are beautiful birds.:ivar wings.gif

    nice ones mike.

    we have the superb fairy-wren and the variegated fairy-wren around our neck of the woods.. they are cute lil birds..

    I haven't seen any spoonbills so I dont know if we have them fellas...
    Canon 40D, 50mm f/1.8, 400mm f/5.6L, sigma 105mm Macro.

    Cheers Bob! Yeah it is a spectacular bird indeed! Pelicans are scary bloomin birds! Did you ever see that series of the pelican eating the pigeon??! eek7.gif

    Cheers Dave. Yeah they are amazing to see in the wild! The all-blue ones I only saw a couple of times, but the blue-winged ones were everywhere!

    Thanks Steve! According to my book, you guys get them over there too. I hadn't really seen them much in the past, but now that I get down to lakes and estuaries more I have started to notice them. I haven't seen the variegated fairy wren. Don't think they range commonly as far as Perth.

    hmm, it seems that the variegated is all over oz except the south west. doh..
    you wont see the superb either.. they are mainly in nsw and vic..

    Thanks Dan. Those galahs certainly are photogenic birds! They are very comic bird actually. They play with each other a lot.
