My mate Happy in good hands...
A sculpture in a new park in central Xi'an city (of Terracotta Warriors fame), China. 'Happy' is his English name, his Chinese name suggests his parents' hope that he might become rich! He is their only child. When I cut my finger badly (three stitches) with my pocket knife while trimming a piece of bamboo in the wild hills above Ningbo city on the central coast, he was cool and competent as a seasoned nurse. At the hospital three days later he watched closely without flinching while the doctor passed the suturing needle through my skin. Today I have only a thin faint white line on my finger as souvenir. I would trust myself to his hands to take out my heart!
