Saving money: Big cashback program from Microsoft

Hello everyone,

I just bought a fullframe Nikon D700 + lens + software and got 15% off (around $720) (even more, if you add my credit's card 1% cashback and warranty program as well).

• Nikon D700 + Nikon 24-70mm AF-S lens + Nikon NX2 upgrade = $4081.69
  (Just a Nikon D700 body from J&R could be had for just under $2550 this way; A D3 body from J&R for just $3858)

Microsoft's Cashback Account program allowed me to do this, by letting me buy these items from J&R that has a 15% cashback deal when you buy through http://search.live.com/cashback . They have deals with B&H as well, but only offered 5% cashback from this store.

Go to the above link and find out all the details there.

Here are the details in short:

• Sign up for Microsofts' Cashback. You have to provide an e-mail address and a phone-number.
• From above link, start buying stuff you want/need.
• When finished you'll get your cashback in your Cashback account.
• After 60 days you can claim your cashback amount (60 days, in case you return your purchases).

It is really amazing. We are so programed to pay full price that when a bargin like this comes along first thing is to think it's gray market or the retailer signed up for that program will charge $500 for the battery. I have purchased from J&R before and have been to their store in NY. You can't beat 15% cash back on a D700 and the 24-70 for $1450 is outstanding.

I think J&R is going to have to expand once the word gets out about this. Finally Microsoft is giving back.

You will really appreciate the camera and the lens. The lens is not as heavy as some say and it's barrel shape is a work of art.

I'm gonna love this camera, i know. I was just dying to try my hands at an FX camera (i have a D200 now) and this 15% cashback was just too good to pass.

The Cashback is not only for J&R, but B&H, Adorama, etc. as well. It is tied to 100s of stores, from cameras and electronics to shoes and apparel, etc. Some stores have only 5% cashback with this program, others have over 50% to 60% off. Great deals to be had.

I just got my direct-deposit posted into my bank-account. A nice $720 from M$

When using direct-deposit, be a little patient. It takes about a week (5 working days) from the 'Rewarded' date (mentioned in your cash-back account) before the amount is posted to your bank-account. I guess the ACH (automatic clearing house) company holds on for it a little bit as well...
