You guys don't get it. *This* is slim pickins'

We're not talking beautiful shots of egrets and herons. We're not talking exquisite portraits of beautiful, interesting birds.

This is what we're talking when we say "slim pickin's"

(everything 40D, 100-400L @ 400mm w/ 1.4X)

OK, it really wasn't that bad today. I saw a bunch of deer lounging in the alfalfa.
Badly backlit and distorted by rising heat and distance, but these are my first deer :clap

    Thanks, Mike. These little guys are getting used to me being out there. It's the dog days of summer out here and not much is happening bird-wise, so I'm glad these little guys pop in and break up the monotony.

    I'm honestly delighted that you like this one because it's probably my best killdeer yet.

    The killdeer was polite enough to pose for me just where I wanted him, sweet little guy.. As for the buck, I was driving by and was startled to see a 4 pointer starting at me. That's not something that happens every day:D
