Has anyone had the chance to play around with this yet?
Or the new IS lens it comes with? From what I have read you can't buy a body only, is Canon just trying to make an extra buck with each sale?

I checked it out at BestBuy for a few minutes. In the USA, the XS only comes with the "kit" lens. There is no IS in the body, it's a lens based system.

What's silly is that the XSi with the kit lens has been out for a little bit and sells online for just under $700, while the XS sells for about the same b/c it's new.

If it was me, I'd definitely get the XSi instead. Maybe in a few months, the XS will drop in price so that it'll financially make sense to get that over the XSi.

I just visited the Canon site just now, and funny enough like you said they are both priced the same.
699 for a new camera, and 699 for what im assuming a more capable camera.
