Opening Jpegs in Photoshop CS3

I had an occasion to uninstal and reinstal Photoshop CS3 version Camera Raw 4.3.1 Canon EOS 40D.
Since reinstalling I find that none of my Jpeg photo files will appear on the first Canon Raw 4.3.1 page in which they have always done. The first page I am referring to is the page with the Histogram on the top right corner and all the sliders for altering the photo and at the bottom it has Open Image - Cancel - Done.
As I say, prior to uninstalling all my saved Jpeg photos all first appeard on this page and then after clicking on Open Image took me to the next page. I find all the photo files when clicked on apear on this second page and I miss the sliders so much.
The only files that appear on the fist page are the CR2 files. I should have said I always shoot RAW.
Can anyone please tell me what to alter or the route to take to get my Jpeg files to appear on the first page. I hope I have made myself clear.

    It's in the preferences -> file handling -> prefer adobe camera raw for jpep giles
