I'll second that. Can't wait for them to release it for mac and linux. Then I'll be one happy camper. I'd want skins for it, but there's almost nothing to skin!! So happy with the new browsing experience.
So far, it seems pretty cool. Not really seeing it being any better than FF though (yet).
Try a web-app (like gmail or something like that) and compare side-by-side. The speed difference is HUGE. The googlebooks (link) info on it will give you the full story.
<-- is way more excited than he should be over a freakin' browser
I tried it at work - pretty slick. But I'm not leaving without my ad-blocker, exif viewer, jpg2k support, rss-reader and serviceable proofing in Finnish.
Ok, I downloaded it onto my PC laptop. All looks good except that on my laptop, I have a touchpad. On the touchpad, on the right and bottom, I have areas that work like a mouse wheel for scrolling.
These areas work fine with IE, they don't work with Chrome.
Every now and then the pointer will change to look like the slider that should let it scroll, but it doesn't scroll, it just changes back to a pointer when I try to scroll.

Through a search, I found others that are having this problem also, so it's not just me.
Through the link you gave me, I was able to report it.
Thanks.
EDIT:
So I went out on the net and found an updated driver hoping that would fix it.
Now the pages will scroll down, but not up. Kind of strange.
The good news is, I was having the same problem with Safari on my laptop. With the
new driver, Safari works great.
Was wondering about that part of it myself. Seems to be very common language in general these days. I've raised a similar issue with PhotoShelter and can't even get them to reply (they use similar language, as does SM, if I remember correctly).
Chrome and Network Troubles?
Chrome seems to run well. My SM site looks really good. Page draws are VERY quick. Fast and simple. I would love to be able to turn off automatic updates, though. Love the multi-process architecture idea.
Just noticed the spell check isn't working in Dgrin. Mistakes are underlined, but a right click does not offer option.
I am suspecting Chrome may be the culprit in some home-network difficulties that arose with the install, but I haven't been able to pin it down. Anyone else see such problems?
I installed it on my laptop last night and I think I kinda' like it. It does seem to be quite a bit faster then either FF or IE. I would really like to see a Linux version of it as one of my laptops (it's about 8 years old at this point) runs Linux and I do a lot of surfing on that machine.
One thing I'm not so sure about is that when you hide the bookmark bar, so too do you also hide your saved bookmarks. I, so far, don't see a way to use keyboard shortcuts to get access to these bookmarks like I can with either FF or IE (I use a mouse only when there is no keyboard way of doing something - it's just faster for me).
OOOOOOOOOOH MYYYYYYYY GAAAAAWD........I'VE BEEN CHROMED......ON SEPT 2 that is............I like it so far....it ahs been constantly up now since about 9pm on 9-2-08 and no crashes, glitches or flickers.....and it is way faster than IE........JUst another browser to have to make sure all of our customized sites work properly on..........:D:D:D
Sorry I missed the post on page two before I posted this.
Has anyone heard any more on this?
You may want to check the terms and conditions of CHROME before you upload. I ran across this yesterday on another forum
Wanting to use Google Chrome ?
<HR style="COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->For those not knowing, Chrome is the new IE,Firefox etc.
However, it's terms of use says...
Quote:
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=6 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=alt2 style="BORDER-RIGHT: 1px inset; BORDER-TOP: 1px inset; BORDER-LEFT: 1px inset; BORDER-BOTTOM: 1px inset">11. Content licence from you
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content, you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services. </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Basically, anything you post via it is Google's. Yes you retain copyright but they can do what ever they want including selling any images you upload via the browser or even when viewing them and you get nothing in payment.
Just a heads up that they can do it so you might want to rethink it's use !!!!
Google has responded with haste to the huge outcry about a section in Chrome's EULA that gives Google "a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license" to do all kinds of dirty stuff—in public no less—to content you post through Chrome. Rebecca Ward, Senior Product Counsel for Google Chrome, told Ars that it's actually an oopsie from basically copying and pasting the same EULA it uses in other products, and that they're updating it as fast as they can to remove the ridiculous terms.
She says that Google is
"working quickly to remove language from Section 11 of the current Google Chrome terms of service. This change will apply retroactively to all users who have downloaded Google Chrome."
There seems to be a great deal of placebo effect with Chrome. I don't know why people like google so much, but that's the way it is.
Speed tests have shown that, with the exception of google owned sites, it's not really any faster than FF3.
And please don't point me to Google's own benchmark tests - those things were so horribly skewed away from real world performance and toward recursion tracing. Here's a good read if you're interested and want to know more: http://ejohn.org/blog/javascript-performance-rundown/
It's not to say that Chrome is bad, but if it's not practically faster what does it add that our existing browsers don't already have?
The settings to override fonts don't work outside of areas like the URLs. I post journals on a site where the font is not set. The site deliberately uses the fonts set in the browser by the end user. But - changing the fonts in Chrome does nothing for that site. Bug logged against Chrome.
Bookmarks? The ability to drag sites to the bar at the top of the screen is nice. But the lack of ability to open the bookmarks and arrange them en masse is more than a little annoying. I can arrange one item within bookmarks, then the bookmarks are closed. To move the next item, I have to reopen them. Yup, a little thing, but something that should not have been overlooked.
I like the fact that either urls or words for searches can be typed into the address bar. The overall browsing experience is good, and I suspect that's what they were after. Hopefully they'll address the background annoyances.
Did you know that if you just type words into the FF3 address bar it runs a google "I'm feeling lucky"? Fun stuff.
Nope, I didn't know that. I'm still running FF2 because SmugBrowser doesn't run on FF3 yet. I suppose that I should just install a second copy of FF so I can have access to both.
It's not to say that Chrome is bad, but if it's not practically faster what does it add that our existing browsers don't already have?
I've not measure-bated Chrome v. FF3, however I've run eye-ball tests on the sites I use daily, and noticed a difference in speed. Was it significant? Well, if 1/2 second is significant to 3/4 second, then yes. To actual REAL usage? No, nobody will notice that 1/4 second difference.
What I really like about Chrome over FF3 is all in the back-end. I like the way the browser handles its process management. I also like that the browser gets the *expletive* out of my way as I'm browsing. I don't have to deal with tool bars that keep stacking on top of each other (FF3 is much better about this than anything but Chrome IMNSHO).
All of this is rather moot for me though as the only machine I can use it on is my work computer (which I don't do a lot in the way of browsing on) as the rest are either linux or mac.

Hi there people,
anyone using Google Chrome as a browser yet? You should read the following about the Google Chrome EULA:

Yep. New terms are here. They screwed up but admitted it and fixed it quickly.
