I just returned from the 2008 Burning Man festival in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.
All I can say is "WOW"... In a perfect world, everyone could experience something like this once in their life. This place is just full of positive, creative, communal spirit.
Good people, good music, good vibes. ...oh yeah, and Good Light! :wink
more to come. c c q's welcome
also, here's a "people" BM post:

Just out of curiosity, I was always under the impression that photography was kind of a touchy issue at BM. Is this the case or am I totally misinformed?

So, given the dust storms we heard about, hopefully your gear survived!

Love all the images -- what sweet light!
Did you do anything for the dust? I saw a person packed each lens in a tupperware container in his packing photos.
The majority of people I asked basically said: Go ahead and shoot, but when it comes to shooting people, just be respectful. If you get the feeling they don't want to be shot or they explicitly tell you, no means no.
Throughout the week, one or two people asked me not to shoot them, so I just deleted those files from my card.
It's all about respect. As long as you're not bothering anyone, and not participating in blatant voyeurism, it's all good.
yeah those storms were gnarly.
I sealed my D80 18-200 in this cool freezer bag thing I found online.

and during the storms, I shot a little with a point and shoot. I was too worried to even take my D80 out of the backpack. :uhoh
