Hi all, I LOVE photography and use a 5Mp camera, which is basically a point and shoot camera. It has macro and a bit of zoom, flash etc. I love taking photos but not sure where to start with 'getting started'. I dont have any photoshop, do have gimp but not sure on how to use it so these pics are as they came off the camera.

Any ideas, and comments please!

First tip: post your piccies right here instead of just linking to them. That way it's much easier to browse and comment on them. (it's the yellow button with a mountain in it)

I like the first and the third of your shots - good simple compositions there. Are you into macros?
    Creativity's hard.

I love macros, but find with such a 'point and shoot' camera I cant get in as close as I want, but do the best I can with what I have :D

This last shot has a surreal feel about it with, what I will refer to as ghosting....it might be fog but with what i see as really bright sun to the left...it seems to be ghosting from the lens barrel....but what do i know......
You mentioned you have a 5mp cam a p/s....but have you told us what it is exactly....why do i ask....weeeell because I have shot with a KMA2 (8mp p/s) for several years and love what I can do with it that my DSLR's won't and can't do.....and I have sold 30 x 40" pics from that cam...your other pix are quite sharp and well done also...........

keep up the great work and remember tis not the cam but the photog that makes the photograph.

My camera is a Fujifilm Finepix A500 5.1mp. Excuse the ignorance but what is DSLR?

Thanks for the comments too! thumb.gif

Digital Single Lens Reflex. It's a more advanced type of camera that supports interchangeable lenses and paves the road to great photography and financial ruin. You probably don't need one yet. There is a current thread with many examples of wonderful photos taken with point and shoot cameras like yours.
