I am going to take guess on my experience with herons that these may be used to getting fish from fisherman/castnetters. I have found some juvenile black-crowns to be tolerant of people to a point.
It's a secret..MUhahauhauah !!! ... well actually, this heron has been hanging out in pond in the park for a few days and is VERY tamed and that juvi BCNH almost fell asleep after eating the worm...

For me I'd like the bird to stand out a little more from the bg - applying a slight S curve to just the bird should do it. See what you think.
