Field of View and Crop Factors

Not sure if this is the right place. If I know the field of view (in degrees) for a given lens, how do I translate that into a new angle if I know the crop factor of the camera body (in this case, 1.6X for a Canon 40D). Thanks.

The FOV is what the crop factor value/designation is really all about.

Take the full-frame FOV/AOV degrees and "divide" by the crop factor to estimate the equivalent FOV.

For instance, the Canon EF 50mm, f1.2L USM has a diagonal AOV of 46 degrees on a FF body. On a crop 1.6x body it should yield an approximate equivalent of 46/1.6 or 28.75 degrees.
