I am curious what technique you used in post. I like everything about it except for how the blacks look. They seem washed out, but that could just be me.

Yes, I could see the problem with the blacks. I have adjusted them a little. Maybe they are better? However, there is only so far you can push 'exotic' PP.
These were reprocessed from jpgs from a P&S with LightZone. I used various filters from the Styles menu, as well as basic adjustments. The 'daguerreotypes' were done with Paint Shop.

The post processing reminds me of a pseudo HDR...yep...sure looks like it. The clothes...and the faces...resemble that sort of processing.
Was that part of your post processing? Just wondering since you didn't disclose what filters you used.
