Howdy Mick, Thando asked me to take a look at your issue here.

My stoopid! :scratch

It was the Firefox cache. I emptied the cache and now the old URL serves up the new file.

It's interesting that when I right clicked the file and selected "Save Image As" I got the cached file. I didn't expect FF to download from a cache like that. For this very reason.

Oh well... :dunno

Since this is all taken care of and you have lots of free time on your hands...

Can you do something about all this wasted space?

Seriously, thanks for the quick reply!

Better now? I made it wider, it now uses all avail space on 1024 wide monitors (the most used resolution of our visitors.

Doesn't use all the available space on my monitor. FF3 on Vista (Macbook Air).

Isn't the Macbook Air screen resolution 1280x800?

Yes, but I should have specified that it doesn't use any more than it did before - it's not using 1024, looks more like 800.

From a purely practical standpoint, there's a limit to how wide you can make a media that you read before it becomes difficult to move from one line to the next without getting confused and wasting time backtracking to re-acquire your place in the text.

The wider format is good, but I don't think any wider would be better.

The textarea is about 730pixels wide up from what was 500 something

Sorry Andy, the change did nothing for me. I run my monitors at 1280x1024, and sometimes even higher. It's a balance between constant scrolling (which I hate) and eye strain (which I don't like too much either).

Couldn't you make the vB_Editor_001 div and the textarea width:auto? Something like this...

It would be easier if you were using CSS for layout instead of a table. Still, there should be some way to make it stretchy and make everyone happy.

I don't make the software so I didn't make tables.

We're gonna eventually redo the whole look/feel of things so we'll just design it stretchy then :)

    Sorry!

Reminds me of when I was a kid, "Are we there yet? When are we going to be there? Are we there yet?":D

But, Andy, you've let the cat out of the bag. Now you're going to be hounded for details of the remodeling effort: what's it going to look like, when's it going to go beta, when can we get a preview peek and on and on and on....:D

Looking forward to seeing what the SmugMug/DGrin team comes up with.thumb.gif
