Hummingbird sequence and two others

Yesterday afternoon I was excited and lucky to have this ruby throated hummingbird decide to try to get some nectar from my bouquet of flowers that I left for these little ones near one of my feeders in the garden. Here is a quick sequence I achieved in burst mode.

And here are two other odds and ends shots from late last month.

To be honest and have full disclosure here, in the last image I cloned out the feeding port in which the hummingbird had inserted its beak. I really did not want the feeder showing but I still wanted to use the photo because I like the mid-air pose.

Nice set, Stephen. The first one is a bit soft. Looks like the AF zeroed in better from the first to last image in the set. I'm still envious of the hummers :cry

Very nice Stephen. You're going to miss them when they start to head further south aren't you? :cry

Thanks Dan. 2 and 4 did probably turn out the best.

I completely agree. That first one is a tad soft around the face and eye area. The AF hit the back of the hummer and the shallow DOF didn't help things, but it did zero in for the last three much better. Thanks for looking.

    Very nice, Stephen! thumb.gif

You have to stop putting "Hummingbird" in the title...it makes me think I already saw it! rolleyes1.gif

I like the shots just fine...if it were me, I think I would lose the flower on the right and just have the single one.headscratch.gif

I also brightened up the last one.

If you have the room, I would rotate the crop CCW to bring the bird up nearer to the top of the frame...just what I would consider to be a better comp.ne_nau.gif
