New 50mm f1.8 portrait lens

What a great lens and what a bargain the Nikkor 50mm f1.8 is! Best money I spent so far on camera gear. Here is a portrait I took yesterday afternoon with the D40 and this lens (in manual focus since the D40 won't autofocus on this lens). What do you guys think?

    The bokeh is freaky and the sky is super blown out. Also the out of focus tree bits in the left side of the frame are distracting. The face is in focus and the lighting is nice, but IMO the overall composition of this shot leaves a lot to be desired.
