I am not ready to enter the contests, in fact, I'm still a trial member. I just wanted to know what you all think. Nothing spectacular, just me runing around my yard for an hour.

i like the pics - macro to me is so clean - but hey just jump in to the forte - these people will help you and any critisims i have seen come out of here have all been proper - just like a teacher student relationship - advice just go for it - some of these peoples photos are just wow. look around you will see what i mean.

Hi, and welcome to the Challenge forum. I agree, just jump in there. :D

I think you've got a good start with your subjects and composition, it's your light that needs work. Stop using the on-camera flash. Use a tripod (to handle slower shutter speeds) and natural light. The best times of day are sunrise and sunset, due to the softer light. Midday light is too harsh to typically capture a decent mood and details in your highlights and shadows. Watch how the light falls on your subjects. Move yourself around to view unusual angles. Play with it and have fun!

    Thanks
Thanks for the tips. I will try to use the tri-pod more. I took those photos last evening about 7:30, so it was getting dark.

Jump in there, huh? Yes, I've looked around and have seen the work here, which is why I totally feel out of my element. I would like to learn though!

The best way to learn IS by jumping right in! :D

Hope to see one of your works in the next challenge.

Hi, I kinda new here too. I entered this last challenge (DSS #7) and I have entries in the Mini-Challenge - Textures. It is a bit intimidating to throw my stuff in with some really, really talented and knowledgeable folks, but none have come in and told me to leave because I wasn't worthy to be in their company, on the contrary!! I have recieved great feedback and been welcomed very nicely. Most important though, I pushed myself to look for new things to try and move into the realm the old timers here share daily. Go ahead and jump in, no one will ridicule you or belittle you, in fact what you gain will be well worth the chance you take!! Good Luck wings.gif Bill

PS: Your pics look good!! clap.gif

I see you have received some most excellent notes. Way cool. That they
come in the way they do is the same for all of us. SUPPORT emphasis.
We all work hard to see and make a shot happen. Everyday it is that way
in any effort. Give it your best from what you know. Go for it from
where you are and from where you see it. We all began there
and contstaintly move through it / same every day try hard, see something
apply craft.. Thats my 2 cents +5 moving on..... :D

All I have is flowers too, hehe. But I just got a new Nikon and have setup a station in my spare room to try new things. I was having a hard time with my old camera getting the lighting right, but now with the new Nikon the lighting situation has got a whole lot better. I like your shots and your desire to jump into this. You will do just fine. Keeping uploading your pics they are very nice! thumb.gif

The first of the reshoots has major potential, IMO. I love the water droplets and the colors and rhythm of the petals and water droplets.

The lighting is 1000% better than the attempts with flash!!!!

One thing that could use some work is the composition. You have two flowers here. A quick study of the photo and the rule of thirds, as well as some foreground/background tension and I came up with this crop. Not a finished photo but maybe something to spark your creativity and come up with something a little more dynamic. You are so on the right track! clap.gif
