Photo's Viewed vs. Hits

Last month my control panel stats tab showed
This month > Photos viewed: 10307
But when I clicked on details and looked at the summary I sawthis
<table style="margin: auto;" border="0" cellspacing="10" width="974"><tbody> <tr></tr> <tr><td> <table width="320"> <tbody><tr> <td class="headlg" align="center" width="320"> Total for all Galleries: </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="320">
</td> </tr> <tr> <td width="320"> <table align="center" width="320"> <tbody><tr> <td class="headmd"> Hits: 31238 </td> <td class="headmd"> C. Ratio: ~58% </td> <td class="headmd"> Bytes: 1.67 GB </td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td> </tr> </tbody></table> <!-- 1787963443 --></td></tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">
</td></tr></tbody></table>How does one interpret Photo's Viewed vs Hits? There's nothing on the chart that obviously is anywhere near 10,307.
If 10,307 is supposed to be a summary of sorts I would expect it to relate to something in the more detailed section.
What is the difference between hits and Photo's viewed?

Sorry for any confusion. Photos Viewed are images larger than thumbnails. Basically what translates to "intentional" views. When a gallery loads in the SmugMug style, we'll send a number of thumbnails, and draw one larger sized main image. That one main image is counted as an "image view" along with any others they click on.
I hope this makes sense!
