Today the 9th september is my 6 month anniversary of the first ever insect macro shot I shot.
i was relatively normal back then, now however, i am dressing in camo jackets to shoot dragonflys & lying on the floor in the zoo shooting escapee leaf cutter ants!,while people are walking over me!
is this normal?

Here are the shots from chester zoo leafcutter ants.

WOW amazing detail on the head.... what lens are you using to get such great detail on such a small ant??? Also how do you get them to sit still? today I tired taking a picture of a wasp and I couldn't get it to focus cuz the guy kept moving around, and I couldn't get that much detail with my 100mm macro lens.

Wonderful series Phil. That critter sure does look mean. Thank goodness he's as small as he is. WOW only 6 month's? I would have thought you'd been at this a whole lot longer from the quality of your work.

    thanks for comments everyone,much appreciated.
jack - these soldier ants are fairly big, the first couple of shots are workers, these were about5mm long, the soldiers however are about 12-15mm.

Looks a mean little Ant close up doesn't it.
I know they cut leaves, but do they bite as well?

I noticed they have spikes on their backs too.

These are very sharp Phil, I enjoy your posts each and every time thumb.gif
