RRS and Kirk QR System Compatibility?

Hi,
I would like to know if the Kirk L-Brackets are compatible with the QR clamps form RRS.

The RRS camps are a bit wider and don't accept every plate. I
learned this the hard way when I tried to mount my Novoflex
L-Bracket onto the RRS Clamp that comes with the Bogen monopod
head. The clamp wasn't tight enough to grip the plate. Kirk has a
big retailer in Europe which is why I would like to give a try to one
of their L-brackets.

I sent them an email, we'll see what they have to say.

RRS just confirmed the compatibility of their screw clamps with plates from
Kirk. But they were surprised that my Novoflex L-Bracket isn't compatible
with it. Novoflex plates seem to vary in size and the ones they tested
"fit very nicely". The guys at RRS were really fast and helpful. They even
offered me a refund for the clamp. But I'd rather replace my L-Bracket than
part with anything from ReallyRightStuff :D

My understanding from RRS is that Kirk plates are compatible with their screw clamps (what they told you). They will not guarantee that kirk plates or any other will work with their Lever Release (LR) plates. Apparantly the tolerances for the LR plates are so small that they only assure a good fit with their own plates and brackets.

Having said that, I use a Kirk plate on one of my 300mm lenses all the time with my 55BH LR model. It seems to fit well. I've not had any problems with the LR holding the lens tightly.

    YMMV.
