A few from the desert this evening...

I drove about 40 miles down a dirt road into the desert this evening to find a nice place to catch the moonrise. Who knew it was going to be so hazy? :dunno
To compound my misery, the mountains in back of me cast a huge shadow into the valley and this was about the best spot I could find. :bluduh
Zoomed in a bit with a telephoto.
Tried to get creative... :rolleyes
Tried an HDR, which I think I like...
Pissed off a rattlesnake while maneuvering to get this shot, and almost crapped my pants. :huh
Then I drove home through the desert in the dark. Nothing spectacular, but it was worth the drive.

The last one; sunset is gorgeous!
Glad you won the round with the rattler; my hubby is getting me a pair of snake gaiters for Christmas. Everytime I trek thru the desert I have an encounter; the last time was too close for comfort. Be careful...
I am digging the last two.

The snakes seem really active this year. I didn't see anything year and I think I've seen six already this year. Snake gaiters are definitely in my future as well -- especially when trekking at night, which is when they come out and you can't see them!

Yeah, gotta watch that karma.
Glad you liked the last two. Talk more soon.

Thanks, Jeff. I quickly moved away 50' or so when he started rattling. Funny thing was that he was still rattling when I took the shot, which was kinda freaky.

Yes it did...unfortunately. We had to check to make sure he didn't get my skin. Two words...snake gaiters!
Snake gaiters here I come.
