Hi folks!

I just finished my custom website of mostly landscape photos and was hoping to get some feedback on problems and suggestions.

My site: http://www.silverconchophotography.com

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Adam,

Even though it's mostly landscapes, I still think you'll get better feedback in the Mind Your Own Business forum so I'm moving this for you.

I'm no expert on site design but I think your images have great color and I love that you captured big scenes as well as little ones that make up a place and a culture. Great photography! thumb.gif

What browser / OS do you use and what does it say when you try the links?

Thanks for the help! and thanks all for the compliments!

I would appreciate it. I can't think of why it wouldn't work. I tried my friends XP and it worked fine.

Thanks so much for your help

You have some wonderful images, and overall your site looks good too.

I do have some suggestions though.
    1. Loading your home page takes way too long. This is because of the number of galleries shown. If you are going to keep the galleries on this page, I'd recommend that you change the view to categories instead of galleries. An organized entry point into your site is better than your current method of showing all galleries in no specific order. See http://www.smugmug.com/help/arrange-albums.
    2. Your homepage slideshow does not show on IE7. I believe that is because the entry for your splash image is incorrect - splash: 'http://http://areed145.smugmug.com/photos/371704878_3xuKe-O-2.png' - the url is incorrect, needs to have the first http:// stripped
    3. It looks like you're planning to sell your photos, but you have originals enabled. Why would anyone purchase a photo when they can display the original and then steal the image from the browser cache? I'd recommend that you disable display of the originals.
    4. Blog - I don't know if you're interested in this, but I posted a thread last month that describes how to match the look of a (blogger) blog to your smugmug site (instead of embedding it in a gallery). That thread is at http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=101262.
    5. What are you trying to accomplish with your "About me" page? I usually expect that page to describe the artist as opposed to listing your likes/dislikes relative to music and television shows. I'd be much more interested in reading about your travels and your photography. That's very much a personal preference though, and your page may match your goals exactly.
Hope this helps - but feel free to ignore any comments if they don't match your desires for your site.

    --- Denise

All of the links work for me with XPSP3 and FF, front page loaded almost immediately, too. I'll second Denise's recommendation that you must disable originals if you're going to sell your photos.

Looks good. Love the colors in your images... I need to visit New Mexico.

    Thanks so much!

    1. The galleries are in the order that they were taken, (not necessarily uploaded) but I have been debating about switching to category view.

    2. I fixed the splash link so hopefully that will help

    3. I did not even think to disable the originals, but have now done so.

    4. I tried to match my blog and found it nearly impossible for me to do (I'm not very good with html or css)

    5. I plan to improve my about page but couldn't think what to put in there. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for checking the links...I did disable the originals.

New Mexico is fantastic. I try to make it out there at least once a year.
