Yellow Warbler

Here is a yellow warbler that I guess was blown in with the north winds from Ike. I was on that side of the rotation. In 8 years, this is the first one I have seen one in my area. I took these with my 500mm hand held. (Yes I am proud of that.) :D Anyhow, to avoid the motion blur I bumped up the shutter speed and stopped up to compensate. In retrospect I probably could have sacrificed some shutter speed for DOF. Oh well, live and learn.

These are all from my hackberry trees at the back of my yard.

Nice back plumage

And a second helping

Looking satisfied after eating

Probably checking out another insect on a lower branch. This guy was moving so quickly he gives kinglets a run for their money.

Getting close enough and being quick enough to capture smaller birds can be quite a chore...nicely done, Stephen! thumb.gif

I like erroring on the side faster shutter speed myself. I can live with shallow DOF more than blur.:D

Really nice Stephen. Little birds can be really difficult to capture. thumb.gif

Ditto, and especially yellow warblers. I've found them especially difficult subject to work with. Great job here, Maestro. thumb.gif

Yes, they do test my patience but I have found kinglets and chickadees to be worse for me although I like I stated this one gives kinglets a run for their money.
